BOGOTA, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Colombian authorities on Sunday confirmed the killing of another member of the disarmed Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrilla group.
Ender Elias Ravelo was assassinated over the weekend in the Santander district of Tibu, a town in Norte de Santander department, said Jesus Manuel de los Reyes Valencia, head of Norte de Santander's police department.
"Suspects arrived aboard a motorcycle" and one of them opened fire at Ravelo and a group of people he was with, said the official, adding the department has opened an investigation into the killing.
Ravelo's wife, Leydi Arias, and another man were injured and were being treated, he said.
The FARC renounced armed warfare and transformed itself into a political party after signing a peace deal with the government in 2016.
Some 180 former fighters have been killed since the peace deal was reached, according to the party.
