WELLINGTON, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Official figures showed New Zealand's gross domestic product (GDP), the broadest measure of the health of the economy, fell 0.2 percent in the third quarter.
Statistics New Zealand said on Thursday that the fall is mainly due to weakness in the fishing, forestry and mining sectors, as well as in construction and manufacturing.
On an annual basis, the economy grew 1.4 percent.
"The decline in GDP this quarter was due to weakness in the primary and goods-producing industries," Rachel Milicich, Statistics NZ national accounts manager, said in a statement.
