CHICAGO, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., a U.S. sales unit of Toyota Motor Corp., has recalled 740,000 vehicles due to concerns over brake fluid leakage that could hurt braking performance.

The U.S. recall covered Avalon, Highlander (non hybrid), and Lexus RX330, GS300, IS250, and IS350, TMS USA said in a news release Wednesday.

The company said the fault could cause the brake pedal to feel spongy and braking performance to "gradually decline".

TMS USA did not mention whether there were accidents related to the problem. The recall would kick off in early November.

Meanwhile, Toyota also announced the recall of about 600,000 cars in Japan and that it would also affect China.
