CHICAGO, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- McDonald's Corporation on Thursday announced its financial results for the third quarter of the year, showing its net income further increased by 10 percent from a year earlier to 1.3884 billion U.S. dollars.
The number resulted in a diluted earnings per share of 1.29 dollars and brought the total earnings for the first nine months to 3.704 billion dollars, an 11-percent hike from the same period of last year.
The company reported quarterly revenue of 6.3049 billion dollars, up four percent over a year earlier, and operating income of 2.0965 billion dollars in the quarter, representing an eight- percent increase from the same period of 2009.
The company's Chief Executive Officer Jim Skinner mainly attributed the rosy performance to its customer focus, menu innovation and the ongoing modernization of restaurants.
