KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Three blasts rocked southern Afghanistan's restive city of Kandahar late on Saturday, killing at least four people killed and injuring two others.

Zalmay Ayubi, spokesman for the Kandahar provincial administration, told Xinhua that the first explosion took place in front of the gate of the city police department, second at an Afghan National Army base and the third at the city prison.

The official declined to give more details.

Other governmental officials, who asked anonymity, told Xinhua that only the first incident led to casualties.

Kandahar city, capital of Taliban hotbed Kandahar province, has been seeing increase of violence recently.
