TOKYO, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The yen retreated from a 15-year high against the dollar and a nine-year peak versus the euro on Wednesday in Tokyo on rising speculation that Japanese authorities may take action to curb the yen's surge.
At 5 p.m., the dollar fetched 84.55-58 yen, up from 83.85-95 yen in New York at 5 p.m. Tuesday. It traded at 84.55-57 yen in Tokyo late Tuesday. It moved between 84.13 yen and 84.60 yen during the day, trading most frequently at 84.40 yen.
The euro traded at 1.2682-2685 dollars and 107.25-29 yen, versus 1.2625-2635 dollars and 105.97-106.07 yen in New York and 1. 2624-2625 dollars and 106.74-78 yen in Tokyo late Tuesday.
