Hand said China is a significant contributor to Teradata's strong performance but declined to reveal its revenue in the Chinese market.

The financial services and telecommunication sectors are Teradata's fastest growing businesses in China, according to Hand.

Its major clients include Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Bank of China, China Mobile and China Telecom.

While continuing to deepen its relationship with existing customers in China, Teradata is seeking new customers in sectors including retail, manufacturing, logistics and healthcare. It is also planning to expand its business to second- and third-tier banks and insurance companies.

"We are already in talks with some government agencies and potential customers on projects, such as in the healthcare sector," said Aaron Hsin, Terada's president in China.

"I would say now is the golden time for Teradata to build relationships with local partners although many of our projects are in their initial stages," he said.
