Elizabeth Blackwell was born in England in 1821, and emigrated from London to New York City when she was ten year's old. One day, she decided that she wanted __1

In 1849,until graduating from medical school, she decided __6

 but a serious eye infection forced her to abandon the idea.Upon returning to the US, she found difficult to start her __8

own practice because she was a woman. By 1857 Elizabeth and her sister, also a doctor, managed to open a new hospital,the first for woman and children. Besides being the first __9

female physician and found her own hospital, she also __10

established the first medical school for women.
