In New Taipei, 498 people have been injured in an explosive fire at a party.  A total of 205 are students and teachers and of those, 2 students are from the Chinese mainland and 5 are Hong Kong residents.

The wounded have been sent to 43 hospitals for treatment. At least 200 suffered serious injuries.

Taiwan's fire department has concluded the explosion was caused by a powder spray.
