ADDIS ABABA, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Ethiopian government on Saturday said that preparations are well underway for the successful holding of the upcoming 33rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) that will take place from Jan. 21 to Feb. 10 at the headquarters of the AU in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
African leaders' summit, which will be held under the 33rd ordinary session of the assembly, will gather African leaders in Addis Ababa from Feb. 9 to 10. The theme of the summit is "Silencing the Guns: Creating Conducive Conditions for Africa's Development."
On Saturday, the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said a national committee, drawn from all concerned stakeholders, has been working aggressively for the successful conduct of the summit.
The national committee is presently working on major activities, including transportation, security, and hotel as well as other accommodation services.
The AU Commission had also recently announced that it will reinforce its efforts to silence the continent's guns in 2020, with a particular focus on addressing the underlying root-causes and facilitating socio-economic development on the continent.
