KUWAIT CITY, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) launched on Wednesday a new batch of naval boats with the latest navigational equipment to facilitate search and rescue operations, KFSD Director-General Khalid Al-Makrad said.
The new batch of five boats will strengthen the fleet of marine firefighters to secure the waters of the country and all ports from the risk of fires, he said.
The launch of the new boats comes within the management plans of Kuwait to develop mechanisms and equipment in its marine and land centers, Al-Makrad noted.
KFSD is keen to modernize its equipment periodically within the plans, he noted, explaining that it is based on extensive technical studies to ensure the achievement of the objectives in saving lives and property.
Bader Al-Kadam, director of KFSD Marine Firefighting Department, said these new boats have the latest equipment to help strengthen the naval fleet and reduce the time of response.
