BANGKOK, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Monday said he will lead Thailand to drive digital development in Southeast Asia as a means to strengthen connectivity among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members.
Speaking at the "Digital Thailand Big Bang 2019" in Bangkok, Prayut said digital economy was a key part in his government's Thailand 4.0 policy, as it was a key component for economic growth.
"I want to remind you all that you should take advantage of the government's adoption of advanced digital technologies to develop human capital, society and key business segments, including farmers and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which represent the largest proportion of the country's population," said Prayut.
Through the use of digital technology, the Thailand 4.0 economic development model will help leverage incomes across segments of society, said the prime minister.
The Digital Thailand Big Bang exhibition, hosted by Thailand's the Digital Economy and Society Ministry, offers a showcase of public and private sectors' progress in digital economic development.
