KHARTOUM, April 23 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. official on Tuesday reiterated U.S. readiness to continue dialogue with Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC), renewing U.S. support for choices of the Sudanese people.
The TMC Chairman Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan met Tuesday a U.S. delegation, headed by U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Africa and The Sudans, Makila James.
"There is need to speed up formation of a civilian government that meets aspirations of the people," said Makila in a statement.
She said her meeting with the TMC chairman was constructive and reviewed the situations in Sudan and the cooperation between the two countries.
She further said the meeting also focused on the importance that the dialogue in the coming period must be comprehensive and involve all sectors of the Sudanese people.
The meeting stressed the need to ensure that the transitional period would move Sudan to a new status that responds to aspirations of the people.
The TMC is tasked with running the country's affairs following the ouster of President Omar al-Bashir.
