TRIPOLI, March 3 (Xinhua) -- UN Special Envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame on Sunday met in Tripoli with Fawzi Aqab, second deputy head of the Libyan Higher Council of State (HCS), over the latest political developments in the war-torn country.
Salame, Aqab and a number of other HCS officials "also exchanged views on best ways to move the political process forward," said the UN Support Mission in Libya.
Libya has been suffering from insecurity and chaos since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011.
The North African nation has been struggling to make a democratic transition amid years of political division between eastern and western governments.
Salame has been making efforts to bring the political parties in Libya into consensus in order to end the political division.
