BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Wednesday held the inaugural meeting of its International Advisory Panel, covering green infrastructure among other topics.
The panel discussed the global economic situation and its implications for the bank's operations, the need to promote green infrastructure in the new global agenda and the importance of increasing private sector involvement in infrastructure in the region, the AIIB said in a statement.
Composed of former government and international organization officials, scholars and other specialists, the panel aims to provide impartial, objective and independent advice to the AIIB president, allowing the AIIB to benefit from the international expertise of panel members.
"I have no doubt that the advice the panel provides will help shape the development of the bank in the years ahead, and I could not ask for a better group of ambassadors to help promote our new bank to the world," AIIB president Jin Liqun said during his closing remarks for the meeting.
The Beijing-based AIIB is a multilateral development bank initiated by China and supported by a wide range of countries and regions, which will provide financing for infrastructure improvement in Asia.
