WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama spoke with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on phone for about 30 minutes on Tuesday evening, the White House said.
Earlier in the day, Mubarak announced on television that he will not run again for president of Egypt and will stay in power until his term ends in this fall.
Reports here said Frank Wisner, former U.S. ambassador to Egypt, had earlier conveyed Obama's message to Mubarak, which urged him not to run again in the presidential election scheduled in September.
