BANGKOK, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI) on Monday resubmitted a petition, asking the Criminal Court to withdraw the bail granted earlier for the anti-government United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) leader Jatuporn Prompan.

DSI Chief Tharit Pengdit said he filed the request because Jatuporn, a defendant in a terrorism case, had meddled with evidence, committed more terrorist offenses, and obstructed investigators by making public what he claimed to be DSI's leaked investigation reports on autopsies of those killed during the April-May "red-shirt" protests.

As for the controversial investigation reports, which were claimed by Jatuporn to state that soldiers were linked with killings during the protest crackdown, Tharit said DSI had never concluded that military killed people.

If the court wanted to examine witnesses before making a ruling, he would testify as a state witness, Tharit said.

Tharit earlier this month submitted a request to withdraw bail for Jatuporn but the court rejected the request, saying there were insufficient grounds.

Shortly after the DSI chief had filed the bail revocation request, Karom Pontaklang, a lawyer representing Jatuporn, filed an opposition to the court.

The pro-Thaksin UDD, or "red-shirt" movement, held nearly three-month demonstrations in Bangkok's downtown and other provinces in a bid to demand the government to dissolve the parliament. The opposition Puea Thai Party-list MP and UDD leader, Jatuporn Prompan, was charged with terrorist offenses along with other 19 co-leaders after dispersal of nearly three-month protest.

Most key protest leaders remain under detention with terrorism charges and bail was rejected but Jatuporn was granted bail as he had parliamentary immunity.
