TOKYO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- About 69.3 percent of people responding to an annual poll want the government to take more economic measures, hitting a record high, local media reported Saturday.
It signaled a spread of discontent over existing steps amid prolonged stagnation, Kyodo News Agency reported, citing the Cabinet Office.
The government-conducted survey also revealed that 25.5 percent of respondents want the government to restore fiscal health.
The call for economic steps, a choice of answer created in 1978, rose 6.8 percentage points from last year, while call for fiscal health, set up in 2001, increased by 8.6 points.
The survey was carried out in June on 10,000 adults across the nation. It had a 63.6 percent response rate.
