WASHINGTON, March 26 (Xinhua) -- A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck Chile on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
According to the U.S. agency, the quake, which occurred at about 10:52 a.m. local time (1452 GMT), was centered 380 miles ( 611 km) north of Chilean capital Santiago, at a depth of 21.7 miles (35 km). It was felt slightly in Santiago.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
A deadly 8.8-magnitude earthquake rocked Chile on Feb. 27, killing 425 people and leaving 500,000 others homeless. It was the fifth strongest on record since 1900 and as expected has produced hundreds of aftershocks, mostly minor ones but also including two of 6.9 magnitude.
