SAN FRANCISCO, March 6 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitude on the Richter scale hit off the coast of northern California early Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The quake struck at about 12:46 a.m. local time and was centered in the Pacific Ocean about 29 miles (47 kilometers) from Ferndale, a small city located about 260 miles (418 kilometers) northwest from San Francisco.
So far there are no reports of injuries or damage from the quake. More than 180 people have reported feeling light or weak shaking from the temblor, according to information posted on USGS website.
