RIO DE JANEIRO, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Sao Paulo are in no rush to sell highly-rated Brazil under-23 midfielder Igor Gomes despite growing interest from Europe, a senior club official said on Tuesday.
Gomes has reportedly attracted the interest of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla and Ajax, but Sao Paulo will only sell the 21-year-old "at the right time and the right price," according to manager Alexandre Passaro.
"Igor Gomes could leave, just like any of our other 29 players. But our efforts are always focused on ensuring that players only leave at the right time and the right price, with the smallest possible impact on our results on the pitch," Passaro told Radio Transamerica.
Gomes has made 44 first-team appearances for Sao Paulo and scored five goals since being promoted from the club's youth ranks in 2018.
He has been compared with former Sao Paulo idol and 2002 World Cup winner Kaka because of his refined skills, speed and attacking instinct.
