MADRID; Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Liga Santander strugglers CD Leganes on Monday confirmed the experienced Mexican Javier Aguirre as their new coach.
The 60-year-old Mexican has been appointed until the end of the season to replace Manuel Pellegrino, who left the club by mutual consent at the end of October, while caretaker coach Luis Cembranos, who was in charge for Leganes' last three matches, returns to his former job with the B-team.
Aguirre brings a wealth of LaLiga experience to the side currently bottom of the table with just five points from 12 matches, after previously coaching Osasuna, Atletico Madrid, Zaragoza and Espanyol in Spain, as well as the Mexican and Japanese national teams.
He takes over with Leganes six points from safety and with a difficult opening game in charge away to third place Real Sociedad on Friday night.
