KUNMING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The top two seeds in the tournament, Chinese pair Duan Yingying/Han Xinyun and Peng Shuai/Yang Zhaoxuan, both defeated their opponents to advance into the semifinals of the ongoing Kunming Tennis Open here on Thursday.
Top seeds Duan/Han needed one hour and 26 minutes to beat Romanian Alexandra Cadantu and Sabina Sharbova of Uzbekistan 6-2, 4-6 and 10-8. Duan and Han will next play against Indian Ankita Raina and Ashley Kratzer of the United States.
Chinese player Peng Shuai did not advance to the top 16 of the singles, leaving her only hope in the doubles. Peng and Yang took down Indonesian player Jessy Romipes and Dutch Rosalie Van Der Hoek in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, and also advanced to the semifinals.
In the other game of the day, Xu Shilin and her Romanian partner Andreea Rosca beat You Xiaodi and Beatrice Gumulya of Indonesia in three sets 6-4, 4-6 and 10-7.
