MADIRD, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Celta Vigo confirmed on Monday night that they had sacked Argentine coach Antonio Mohamed in the wake of their 4-2 home defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday night and replaced him with Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso.
Mohamed became the third coach in the Spanish Liga Santander to lose job this season following Leo Franco (Huesca) and Julen Lopetegui (Real Madrid).
The Argentinean arrived at Celta to replace Juan Carlos Unzue over the summer and led Celta to 14th place in the League table with 14 points from 12 games.
However, 7 of those points came in Celta's first three games of the season and since then the team has struggled for form and results. One win in their last 10 matches made Mohamed the Celta coach with the worst win percentage this century.
Former Rio Ave and Nantes coach Cardoso will take his first training session on Tuesday before bring presented to the press and fans.
