KAMPALA, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre has named his final soccer squad that will face Cape Verde in a crucial Group L qualifying game of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
"We have started well with the foreign players and a few professionals. We have entered residential camp on Monday and hope to work on the weak areas in the next few days," Desabre told Xinhua on Monday.
Desabre's team that need only one point to qualify for the 2019 AFCON will host the Cape Verde team on Nov. 17 at the Uganda National Stadium, Namboole.
The Uganda Cranes lead Group L of the qualifiers with 10 points, while Tanzania are second on five points, and Cape Verde have four points and Lesotho bottom with two points.
Desabre said they are working on the scoring and defending because they want to maintain a clean sheet. Uganda is yet to concede a goal in the four games they have played in the qualifiers.
Assistant captain Hassan Wasswa Mawanda called upon the Ugandan fans to come in large numbers on Saturday to cheer the team so that they qualify.
