PALEMBANG, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian women's football team faces an uphill climb to qualify for the Asian Games quarterfinals. It must collect more points in its last group qualification match against 2019 World Cup qualifier South Korea.
The host country was defeated 4-0 by Chinese Taipei in a Group A qualifying match held in Jakabaring Sports Center here on Sunday night.
Chinese Taipei's Pao Hsinshuan scored two goals in the match, the previous goals having been made by Yu Hsiuchin and Chan Pihan.
With the result, Chinese Taipei overtakes Indonesia in the group's runner-up position.
Indonesia ascended to Group A runner-up position following its landslide 6-0 win against the Maldives in a previous match last week.
Requiring more points in the last group match, Indonesia still has a chance to advance into quarterfinal round in the knock-out phase in an upcoming match against South Korea.
South Korea women's football team is arguably the third strongest team in Asia after Japan and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, who are also undefeated in their respective groups in the ongoing Asian Games.?
