ACCRA, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Ghana’s U-20 men's national football team have qualified to next year’s Africa Youth Championship to be staged in Niger after drawing 1-1 away with Benin on Sunday.
Bio Odo Chabi put Benin in front in the opening minutes of the second half before Prosper Ahiabu equalized for Ghana six minutes from time.
The Black Satellites thus qualified 4-2 on aggregate following last week's 3-1 win over Benin at the Chinese-built Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the Central Region of Ghana.
The three-time African U-20 champions will be making a comeback to the Youth Cup of Nations after missing out on the 2017 edition in Zambia.
Ghana join Burkina Faso, Burundi, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and hosts Niger for the 2019 eight-nation Africa U-20 tournament which will take place from February 2 to 17.
The top four teams will qualify to represent the continent at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland later next year.
