BERLIN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Hannover and head coach Andre Breitenreiter have agreed on a contract extension, the Bundesliga club announced in an official statement on Saturday.
The 44-year-old coach extended his running contract, stipulated until June 2019, for another two years to stay until summer 2021 with the Lower Saxony side.
"The contract extension is a meaningful future decision for Hannover. We want to evolve in the Bundesliga and one of the cornerstones for achieving our goals is of course the coach," Hannover's club president Martin Kind said.
Breitenreiter joined Hannover in March 2017 and helped the club to promote into Germany's top flight. Besides, he was able to establish the "Reds" in the Bundesliga last season.
"Hannover is more than a club for me. It is my hometown and after taking the job as head coach I experienced incredibly emotional and unforgettable moments. I am glad that this story continues," Breitenreiter said.
Hannover will travel to Werder Bremen to kick off their Bundesliga season on August 25.
