RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo are searching for their fourth coach this year following the sacking of Marcos Paqueta after just five matches in charge.
The 59-year-old was dismissed in the wake of Botafogo's 2-1 loss to Paraguay's Club Nacional in the Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday.
"A meeting between directors and the coach after the match confirmed the end of the cycle," Botafogo said in a statement on their officials website.
Botafogo have struggled since the departure of Jair Ventura, the son of Brazil World Cup winner Jairzinho, last December.
The two-time Brazilian Serie A champions are currently 11th in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings, 14 points behind leaders Flamengo.
Paqueta joins Alberto Valentim and Felipe Conceicao as coaches who have been axed by the club this year.
