BERLIN, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Augsburg have completed their first summer transfer after signing striker Julian Schieber from Hertha Berlin on a free transfer, both Bundesliga clubs announced on Tuesday.
Julian Schieber will reinforce the "Fuggerstaedter" as the 29-year-old striker has penned a three-year deal, which keeps him with Augsburg until June 2021.
"With Julian Schieber we have snapped up an experienced and dangerous striker. We are confident that he can help us to achieve our goals in the future," Augsburg's CEO Stefan Reuter said.
Augsburg's new arrival played since 2014 for Hertha Berlin to provide ten goals and three assists in 43 appearances. Schieber knows the Bundesliga very well as he played for Stuttgart (2008-2012) and Borussia Dortmund (2012-2014). He scored overall 26 goals in 156 Bundesliga outings.
"I am very happy that Augsburg gives me the chances to hunt for goals in the next three years. I would like to help Augsburg continuing successful in the Bundesliga," Schieber said.
Augsburg completed the Bundesliga season 2017/18 on the 12th position of the standings.
