SUZHOU, China, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Poland claimed the team gold medal with a 31-21 victory over South Korea at the women's epee World Cup here on Sunday.
In the team competition, Poland overtook No.1 seed China 39-33 in the quarterfinal before they beat Russia 32-25 to advance into the final.
South Korea astonished Estonia 36-32 in the semifinal, but they were not good enough to stop Poland taking the gold.
Estonia took the bronze over Russia 38-36 in a close match.
On Saturday, China's Sun Yiwen beat Moellhausen Nathalie of Brazil 15-9 in the individual final, winning her second World Cup title of the year. Poland's Piekarska Magdalena and Knapik-Miazga Renata shared the bronze medal.
"I didn't expect that I can be the champion this time, because I have not trained since the Chinese National Games in September," said Sun, who won a bronze medal at the Rio Olympic Games.
The World Cup featured the individual and team events, attracting some 160 fencers from 26 countries and regions.
