JAKARTA, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Shooting test events for Asian Games next year are being held in Indonesia, an official said on Tuesday.

The events kicked off on Nov. 4 and will run till Nov. 12 in Indonesia's capital and West Java province, said Hendry Oka, director of test event competition of Asian games 2018.

A new sport of mixed team is played in the events and will be contested in the Asian Games next year, he added.

"The test events aim at checking the readiness of the committee and testing the new sport number," he said.

Indonesia is to stage 40 sports in the 18th Asian Games next year, which will be held in the country's capital and Palembang city of South Sumatra province from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2.
