BERLIN, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Eintracht Frankfurt have signed defender Jetro Willems from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, both clubs confirmed in an official statement on Friday.
The "Eagles" have strengthened their defense with the commitment of Jetro Willems, who has put pen to paper on a four-year deal until June 2021. Both clubs agreed to keep silence over further transfer details.
"We are very glad that the transfer is now completed. Jetro Willems is a young and very ambitious player who will increase the quality of our squad," Frankfurt's sporting director Fredi Bobic said.
Frankfurt's new arrival played since 2011 for PSV Eindhoven and made overall 144 appearances to provide 11 goals. The 23-year-old defender is since 2012 part of the "Elftal", the Netherlands national team, and made 22 international caps.
"I really wanted to join a club that can give me good prospects and where I can play regularly. I had good talks with the club officials and the head coach. I am convinced that I can take the next step at Frankfurt," Willems said.
The defender received the jersey number 15. His new club will kick off their Bundesliga season against Freiburg on August 20.
