RIO DE JANEIRO, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Former Brazil international striker Leandro Damiao was on target as Flamengo secured a 3-0 away victory against Atletico Goianiense in the Brazilian Serie A championship on Saturday.
Damiao, 27, struck just after halftime following Everton's first-half opener, and Rodinei completed the rout by firing in the visitors' third goal just after the hour mark.
The result lifted Flamengo to the top of the standings with two wins from as many matches while Atletico Goianiense dropped to last place with two consecutive defeats.
meanwhile, eight-time champions Santos defeated Coritiba 1-0 thanks to a first-half strike from David Braz.
And in Saturday's only other match, a late strike from Luiz Otavio handed Chapecoense a 1-0 home victory over defending champions Palmeiras.
