SOFIA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Russia won eight of the 19 gold medals at the Junior and Cadet World Fencing Championships, which ended on Monday in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv.
Besides the titles, the Russian team gained two silver and six bronze medals.
Italy ranked second with two gold, five silver and five bronze medals, followed by France with two gold medals.
China gained one silver medal through Lu Yang in the junior men's sabre, and two bronze medals through Xu Nuo and Huang Ali in the junior women's epee and foil respectively.
The ten-day championships featured individual, team, and mixed-team events in the two age categories for young men and women in sabre, foil, and epee disciplines, with the participation of 1,300 fencers from nearly 100 countries and regions.
