MONTEVIDEO, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Uruguay's national soccer team coach Oscar Tabarez announced his team lineup on Wednesday for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Brazil.
The team includes the return of Luis Suarez while captain Diego Godin will miss the matches due to injury.
After almost two years away from the national team due to suspension for biting Italian Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup 2014, Suarez has been given the green light to return to the team. He will feature in both matches - away to Brazil in Recife on March 25 and at home to Peru in Montevideo on March 29.
Goding, who cannot make an appearance on the pitch against Brazil due to a second bookable offense, is also ruled out of the Peru match due to a muscular injury sustained during a match with his Spanish side, Atletico (Madrid).
Tabarez has removed goalkeeper Rodrigo Munoz and midfielders Camilo Mayada (River Plate, Argentina) and Brian Lozano (America, Mexico) from his initial teamlist of 28 players, along with Godin.
The coach also confirmed he had added youngsters Guillermo Varela (Manchester United, England), Matias Vecino (Fiorentina, Italy) and Diego Laxalt (Genoa, Italy) to the reserve list.
With nine points from the four matches they have already played in the qualifiers, Uruguay are in second place behind leaders Ecuador in phase one of the group stages ahead of Russia 2018.
