RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Levir Culpi is in negotiations with Fluminense to be the club's new coach, with a deal likely to be announced in the coming days, according to O Globo.
However, the manager's wage demands could be a decisive factor. At previous club Atletico Mineiro, Culpi earned around R$350,000 (Brazilian reais) a month.
After the high profile signings of Diego Souza and Henrique, the latter arriving from Italian side Napoli, it is thought the Laranjeiras outfit do not have sufficient financial resources to pay such a substantial salary.
At Atletico, Culpi won the Copa do Brasil in 2014 and was runner up in last year's Brazilian league championship.
An outside choice for the job is former Botafogo and Palmeiras coach Oswaldo de Oliveira. However, his unsueccessful spell at Flamengo is believed to count against him.
