HO CHI MINH CITY, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam is accelerating training and sending its athletes to qualifying rounds of Olympic Rio 2016 so that the country can realize the target of gaining more than 15 berths to the global sporting event, its General Department of Sports and Physical Training said Wednesday.
Vietnamese will compete in a judo tournament in Tunisia from Jan. 12-18, a shooting event in India from Jan. 25-Feb. 3 and football matches at the Asian Football Confederation U-23 Championship in Qatar from Jan. 12-30.
Vietnamese athletes will also participate in intensive training at home and abroad, the department said.
