BUDAPEST, Hungary, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Weightlifting world champion Aleksei Lovchev from Russia has been provisionally suspended after failing a doping test, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) announced here on Thursday.
Lovchev tested positive for a banned substance after the world championships held in Houston last month. He broke two world records and won the 105kg class overall title at the championships.
The IWF said three other Russian weightlifters Aleksei Kosov, Olga Zubova and Olga Afanaseva also failed tests.
The world championships altogether had 24 adverse findings for doping tests, including three other medalists Kim Kwang-song from the DPR Korea, Almas Uteshov and Zhassulan Kyrdyrvayev from Kazakhstan, announced the IWF.
