BERLIN, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio extended his contract until 2017, the "Wolves" confirmed via the club's official homepage on Thursday.
The contract of the Switzerland international was automatically extended due to an option in Benaglio's contract. The 32-year-old custodian will thus stay with the Green-Whites until June 2017.
Benaglio joined the "Wolves" in January 2008 to make 232 Bundesliga appearances ever since. He lifted with Wolfsburg the Bundesliga title in 2009 and the German Cup in 2015.
"I am delighted that our cooperation continues. I feel with my family very well in Wolfsburg. We have found our second home. It is nice to remain part of Wolfsburg's successful path," Benaglio said.
Wolfsburg's sporting director Klaus Allofs added: "Diego Benaglio is a player who totally identifies with Wolfsburg. He is an absolute top performer of the team and an important partner, especially for our youngster."
The "Wolves" sit currently on the third place of the Bundesliga standings. They encounter Mainz at the 12th round on Saturday.
