PARIS, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Ligue 1 club Marseille announced Tuesday evening they have reached a deal with England Premier League's Manchester City to sign Dutch international Karim Rekik.
The 20-year-old defender joined City four years ago but has hardly played for the four-time England's top-flight champions.
He spent last season back home in the Netherlands after being loaned to Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven.
Marseille said the club had "found an agreement in principle for the permanent transfer of the Dutch international this Tuesday evening, pending a medical."
Rekik will be the third new signing at the Stade Velodrome, following winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou from Nantes and goalkeeper Yohann Pele from Sochaux.
The OM, having finished the fourth in the 2014-2015 Ligue 1 season, have seen so far this summer the departures of regular starters Andre-Pierre Gignac, Andre Ayew, Jeremy Morel and Dimitri Payet.
