RIO DE JANEIRO, April 14 (Xinhua) -- More dead fish have washed up on the banks of a Rio de Janeiro lake that will be used for 2016 Olympic rowing races.

Environmental officials said on Monday the fish die-off was the result of recent rains and high sea levels, which caused the lake's water temperature to drop.

Water pollution has been a tricky issue for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games as floating garbage could still be seen in many areas on the city's bay and lakes.
