MADRID, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid's Colombia midfielder James Rodriguez has been diagnosed with muscle injury in his right leg after taking medical tests, the European champions confirmed on Monday.
Real Madrid said in a statement that Rodriguez "has been diagnosed with a grade 1 muscle injury in his right calf." But the Spanish La Liga giants have not indicated how long they expect Rodriguez to be out.
The 23-year-old Rodriguez hurt his leg during Saturday's win over Celta Vigo.
Real Madrid plays Ludogorets in the Champions League on Tuesday and Almeria in the domestic league on Friday before starting the Club World Cup on Dec. 16.
Real Madrid signed Rodriguez this summer after his superb World Cup performance. The Colombian has scored nine goals in 24 games Madrid has played across all competitions.
