QINGDAO, China, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's judoka Liu Yang was defeated by German Miryam Roper in women's 57kg final at the Judo Grand Prix Qingdao here on Wednesday.
"I'm the only Chinese who qualified for the finals today, I really wanted to win a gold medal in front of the home audience, but I failed," said Liu.
"I won't be cracked down by this failure, because my goal is the 2016 Rio De janeiro Olympic Games," she said, "I'll try my best to get more points to qualify for the Olympic Games."
In other matches, Monica Ungureanu from Romania beat Argentina's Paula Pareto in women's 48kg, Natalia Kuziutina of Russia overcame Japanese Yuka Nishida in women's 52kg, France's Vincent Limare lost to Hovhannes Davtyan from Armenia in men's 60kg, and Russian Yakub Shamilov astonished Sebastian Seidl of Germany in men's 66kg.
The three-day Grand Prix has been attracting over 200 judokas from 31 countries and regions, with the gold, silver and bronze medalists to be awarded with 3,000, 2,000 and 1,000 U.S. dollars respectively.
