PARIS, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- World Anti-Doping Agency will receive a financial boost in its fight against doping, by seeing a 3% increase of its annual budget from 2015 after a meeting here over the weekend.

This increase, approved by the Foundation Board alongside with the Compliance Activities Plan for 2015, follows a slight increase of 1% of last year and will enable WADA to advance the development of the new Anti-Doping Administration & Management System platform, ADAMS 2016, as well as the need in operating a tougher 2015 World Anti-Doping Code.

"WADA is very appreciative of this budget increase, particularly given the economic difficulties experienced in many parts of the world. It will allow us to continue our progress as we enter the next chapter of anti-doping," said Sir Craig Reedie.

It announced to have received large donations of more than 21 million U.S. dollars from 13 countries including China and other Asian countries like Japan and South Korea, for the purpose of exploring new techniques for the detection of prohibited substances and methods.

The Board also agreed that an independent, non-political Compliance Review Committee would be formed to provide advice, guidance and recommendations on compliance matters to the Foundation Board.
