Glasgow, which failed a bid for the 2017 Sudirman Cup mixed team event to Australia's Gold Coast, convinced the BWF for their detailed bid at a meeting held in the Peruvian capital Lima.

Next year's is scheduled to be held in Jakarta with no event on the calendar in 2016 due to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
