PARIS, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Last season's runners-up of Ligue 1, Monaco, Saturday claimed a welcome win at home over Evian, while league minnows Bastia and Guingamp both triumped as visiting sides.
Before Saturday's 10th round top-flight soccer of France, three wins from nine had left Monaco in the bottom half of the table.
Thank to a penalty inside the first minute from Joao Moutinho and a goal from Yannick Ferreira Carrasco in the second half, the big-spending team finally opened a process of comeback.
Guingamp had sit on the bottom of Ligue for a long time before they beat Lille 2-1 to become the first side to score at the Stade Pierre Mauroy this season.
Goals from Claudio Beauvue in the stoppage of first half and Ronnie Schwartz at 57 were enough for them to take all three points, despite Rio Mavuba pulling one back in the 78 minute and visiting defender Benjamin Angoua being sent off four minutes from time.
The other two games on Saturday saw Rennes held Metz 0-0 and Nantes tied Reims at home 1-1.
May one of the goal celebrations of the weekend be spotted, however, as a group of Nantes players gathered on the sidelines where one teammate got their hands on a photographer's camera to take a group picture, while celebrating their 13rd minute goal. Enditem
