NANJING, China, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Olympic and world champion Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania won the women's 50-meter breaststroke at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games here on Monday.
Meilutyte dominated the final and touched the wall in 30.14 seconds, which was the third fastest time of the year. The world top time of the year was 29.90 also set by the 17-year-old.
"I am happy that I win, and my time is OK, " she said. "I enjoyed the Youth Olympic Games a lot."
Meilutyte stunned the world when she won the 100m breaststroke at the London Olympic Games in 2012, and she broke the world record to win the event again at the 2013 Barcelona World Championships.
Also Monday, China won the women's 4x100m medley relay in 4:03.58.
The host also claimed a silver and a bronze in the women's 200m butterfly and men's 100m backstroke respectively.
