WASHINGTON, July 15 (Xinhua) -- German forward Dirk Nowitzki will stay with the Dallas Mavericks for three more years, the NBA franchise announced Tuesday.

The three-year deal was said to be worth of 25 million U.S. dollars.

Nowitzki, the NBA Most Valuable Player in 2007 when the Mavericks won a team-record 67 regular-season games, averaged 21.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists over 80 games last season for Dallas.

The 12-time NBA All-Star helped the Mavericks to the 2011 NBA title.

The 36-year-old will start his 17th season in the league.
