SILVERSTONE, Britain, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, now four points short of teammate Nico Rosberg, who tops the drivers' championship.
The 2008 champion came home 30 seconds clear of second-placed Finn Valtteri Bottas of Williams. Australian Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull finished third ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren.
It was Hamilton's second home win at the British Grand Prix, his fifth of the season and the 27th of his career.
Rosberg did not finish the race due to the gearbox problems.
Kimi Raikkonen with Ferrari was involved in a high-speed opening lap accident that halted the race for an hour. He hit the barriers and collided with Brazilian Felipe Massa's Williams.
Raikkonen and Massa escaped from injuries but both cars were seriously damaged.
